Goldenseal Root

Dried root of goldenseal can be purchased in capsules. This perennial herb will put an end to many of the bacteria that cause diarrhea including E. coli. The principal compound in goldenseal is berberine. This is such an effective anti-microbial compound that goldenseal is often referred to as the herbal antibiotic. You can take 2 or 3 capsules of 125 mg each day until the diarrhea goes away. This is one of the more outstanding home remedies for diarrhea.

Electrolytes

If your diarrhea is voluminous, you may want to resupply your body with electrolytes and water. The electrolytes include chloride, potassium and sodium. These are necessary to maintain the rhythm of your heart and also are critical in many other aspects of proper physiological functioning. Low electrolytes can cause death by stopping the beating of the heart. The good news is that it is easily amended by mixing 4 teaspoons of sugar with a half teaspoon of salt in a quart container of water. Diarrhea Home Remedy Using Psyllium

A good home remedy for diarrhea is also a remedy for constipation. Taking ground psyllium seeds will absorb excess water in the stool, making the stool have more bulk. Psyllium seed is the main ingredient in Hydrocil, Fiberall and Metamucil. You can also buy at totally natural with nothing added at a health food store. Mix 1 to 3 tablespoons in water and drink it every day.

Pepper, Ginger & Lemon

Amaranth

Make a tea by boiling amaranth seeds. Bring 3 cups of water to a boil and add 2 teaspoons of amaranth seeds and let it simmer with a cover for approximately 10 minutes. Take the pot from the heat and add a teaspoon of ground amaranth leaves and let this steep for half an hour. Drink 2 cups of this each day. This is a great home remedy for curing diarrhea.

Take equal amounts of white cumin and fennel seeds and roast them. Grind them up when roasted and take a half teaspoon every 2 or 3 hours along with water.
