Fever Blister Home Remedies & Natural Treatments

A friend recommended this and it sure enough worked great.  Into a third cup of warm water add two rounded teaspoons of cream of tartar and mix this until it dissolves.  Drink it and wash it down with regular room temp water.  It doesn’t taste very good.  I did this after the fever blister started to swell and it dried up right away and then it was gone!  Next time I get the tingling, I will try this right away.

Fever blisters are a drag and I’ve attempted to doctor them using peroxide, ice, lysine and even bleach.  Here is what I do now.  I take 1000 mg of lysine when I get the first tingling sensation.  I take that amount again on the following day and half that on the next few days.  Lysine is pretty cheap and you can get it at any health food store.  Also you can try putting on ice, aloe vera, aspirin made into a paste, cornstarch and a wet black tea bag.  All of you who have suffered from fever blisters know how painful and embarrassing they can be even if they are smallish.

My dear husband suffers from regular bouts of fever blisters and he has tried just about anything you can think of and nothing seems to cure them.  One day he had the idea to put Chiggaurd on a fever blister because the product makes a barrier so moisture and air can’t get to the fever blister.  My husband depends on this remedy so much that it is always in his pocket whenever a fever blister shows up.  Chiggaurd is something you can buy over-the-counter.  It has camphor in it which is also healing and soothing.  One thing to know about using Chiggaurd is that it has to be put on frequently because the barrier that seals the blister will come off easily as a result of licking your lips or if it comes in contact with saliva.

There is only one thing that has ever done the trick for my fever blisters and that is my own ear wax.  I know it sounds weird but it really works.  The blister will be gone on the same day or sometimes the next day.  It is best if you start this fever blister treatment at the first sign of the blister forming.  If you treat it this early it will often not even form.  I have tried everything.  This is a great home remedy for fever blisters.

OK so a fever blister shows up on your door step.  Your first thing is to plan some prevention so you don’t get any more of these.  Stop stressing, limit sun exposure, stop eating fat and oil except omega 3 oils.  Take lysine and vitamin C.  The next thing we need to do is treat the one you got.  Forget about Abreva as it doesn’t work and that goes ditto for any OTC drugs.  Some things you can do are soften it with a hot steaming wash cloth (get a wash cloth wet and microwave it), pop it with a needle you have sterilized, put fingernail polish remover on it and also apply garlic, toothpaste, salt, alcohol, bleach, and apple cider vinegar.  Eat licorice, the real stuff that has real licorice in it.  Try these things and one of them will work for you.  Within a day it will be gone.
