Hives Home Remedies, Natural Remedies & Natural Cures

Healthy Diet Home Remedy for Hives

Most of what we experience in the form of skin irritations including hives has to do with the foods we eat and whether or not we are allergic to them. Eating a healthy diet is imperative to our well being. If you are experiencing hives it is best to first look at your diet. There are some types of foods we may be allergic to. In this world of highly processed foods, sugars, fats and meats it is no wonder so many of us are so unhealthy and suffering from side effects of what we put into our body each day. Allergies are a way for our body to let us know that what we are doing to our body is not healthy for whatever reason.  A home remedy for hives is to eat a healthy diet and then one by one eliminate certain foods from our diet that might be the cause of our hive problem. There is a doctor in Santa Rosa California that is a leading authority on diet and healing disease through diet and well being. He talks about what kinds of foods we should be eating to restore and maintain good health. He has an article specifically discussing hives and allergic reactions to foods. In his article he lists foods that will most likely keep you from developing allergies to begin with. I highly suggest reading his article. Oatmeal Baths

If you have a case of hives go to your bathroom start a nice warm bath and shake about 2 cups of oatmeal into the water. Let it soak for about 10 minutes to soften the oatmeal, then slip into the healing water. Soak in the oatmeal bath for at least 15 minutes if not longer. Oatmeal is a natural cure for hives. Your skin will feel soothed and you will be so much more relaxed.

Epsom Bath

I tend to have hives every so often and whenever I do I always use a natural remedy to heal them. The best natural remedy for hives is a nice hot epsom salt bath. Epsom salts are known to help detoxify our bodies through drawing the toxins out of our skin. The Epsom salt also has healing properties that soothe aching muscles and joints. When you soak in a hot Epsom salt bath when you are suffering from hives you will be using the best natural home remedy there is available. Your skin will feel instant relief and be so soft as well. A wonderful company that makes lovely bath salts is called Ocean Lover’s. You can buy some nice organic baths salts through their site: http://www.ocean-lovers.com/

Avoid Tap Water

If you want to truly heal your hives through the best home remedy, simply avoid drinking tap water. There are usually many chemicals in our tap water that our bodies may be allergic to and in turn cause hives and other skin irritations. If you can bathe in natural well or spring water this is also a wonderful home remedy for hives.

Oatmeal and Cornstarch Paste

A great natural cure for hives is to make this wonderful paste. It is natural and healing! Take about 3 cups of oatmeal and 2 large tablespoons of cornstarch. Mix them together and then add enough water to help create a paste. Take the paste and apply it to the areas on your body that are affected by the hives. Allow the paste to remain on the hives for 20 minutes then rinse. The hives should dry and calm down within the next few hours.

Stinging Nettles Tea

A natural remedy for hives is to drink a tea made of stinging nettles. This natural remedy for hives will really help you from the inside out. Drink the tea several times a day. You can find this kind of tea at a natural health food store.

Ice Pack Home Remedy for Hives

My only relief from the hot pain of a case of hives is to apply ice directly on the affected area. I sometimes get a bad case of hives and the only home remedy that really works for me is ice. The ice instantly takes away the itching and pain associated with the hives. Sometimes using ice can actually calm the hives enough that they begin to subside and go away. If we itch too much we will only increase the hive severity of the affected skin and possibly even get an infection. Ice is a natural home remedy for hives that may work for you!

Apple Cider Vinegar

I use apple cider vinegar spray as a natural cure for hives. I take equal parts of water and apple cider vinegar and pour it into a clean spray bottle. Spray the solution directly on the hives. It will sting at first but within 5 minutes you will have relief. If I were you I would also begin to drink about 2 tbs of apple cider vinegar three times a day. You can dilute it in water if you wish since it is a bit strong tasting. Apple Cider Vinegar has wonderful healing abilities for many different ailments.

Ice Cold Shower

If you have hives take an ice cold bath or shower then sit in front of a fan for a few minutes. Pat dry yourself with a soft cotton towel. When you get dressed be sure to use light cotton clothing.

Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Zinc

Take Vitamin C, Zinc, and Vitamin E for a home remedy for hives.

Baby Oil

I get hives quite frequently and I have never liked the store bought remedies or the prescription medicine. I ended up seeing a natural doctor and she simply put non-scented baby oil over my hives and they gently went away. Non-scented baby oil is the best natural remedy for hives.

Bathe in Chamomile and Oatmeal

If you are bothered by hives an immediate natural cure for them is to make a nice warm bath and steep some chamomile tea in it, and then add a couple cups of oatmeal. Let the oatmeal soak for at least ten minutes and then climb into this soothing bath. Your hives will calm down and begin to heal. Also take a look at your diet and what you are eating. Many times if we simply eliminate unhealthy foods from our diet our body will heal naturally. Good Luck!!

Chickweed Ointment

The only real home remedy for hives that has worked for me is this chickweed ointment I make up from chickweed, peppermint oil and also beeswax and a little almond oil. Mix equal parts of all these natural remedies for hives and then apply them to your affected area.

I was told by my doctor that my hives were caused by stress. I have a terrible time with hives so much so that I actually have scars on my arms from all the scratching. I decided to de-stress as much as I could but I still had hives. I then stopped drinking tea for a few days and my hives disappeared. When I began drinking tea again the hives came back. So my natural remedy for hives is to stop drinking tea!

Chlorinated Pool

Jumping into a chlorinated pool is a natural remedy for hives I have used.

Urtica Urens Natural Cure for Hives

I have found a homeopathic natural cure for hives that really works. If you have a rash that burns and stings and have used tried other commercial medicines I highly suggest trying this natural remedy for hives. Urtica Urens can be found in the health food store in the homeopathic section.

Gold Bond Home Remedy for Hives

Unfortunately I have a big problem with hives and I always have. I am not completely sure if this home remedy for hives will work for you like it does for me but it is worth trying. I use Gold Bond extra strength. It is a cream that you apply directly to your hive affected area. After about 4-10 minutes the itching will subside and the swelling will ease up a lot.  If the hives come back just re-apply the cream again.

Baby Powder

Alright, I ended up with hives after using an acne face wash. And what I had to do to heal them is very easy really. This guy on some home remedy website wrote about how he used apple cider vinegar in his bath and then applied the vinegar directly to his hives. This other lady told me to use peanut butter. I decided to try both natural remedies for healing my hives, what the heck, I had nothing to lose. So I went and showered and then poured the vinegar all over my body while still in the shower. It did sting for a minute or so but then stopped hurting. I then applied some peanut butter over the hives and left it there for about an hour, rinsed off and then went to sleep. I woke up and could still feel the hives so I did a repeat of what I did yesterday. The next day I decided to try another natural cure for hives I read about. I made a paste out of baby powder. I used about 3 heaping tablespoons of baby powder and added enough water to create a paste. I then covered the hives in the paste. I left it on there for over an hour then I scrubbed it off and felt so much better. I thank everyone who has helped me with my hive problem and I hope I can help someone else! Good luck.
