Serrapeptase

Found in the silkworm intestine, serrapeptase is a naturally occuring proteolytic enzyme.  This has been  used extensively to naturally treat inflammation.  Serrapeptase has performed well in clinical studies, and has been proven to induce anti-edemic (anti-fluid retention), anti-inflammatory and fibrinolytic properties throughout the body.  The same clinical studies have also revealed that serrapeptase has far more desirable anti-inflammatory effects on the body when compared to similar proteolytic enzymes.

St. John’s Wort

St. John's Wort is typically hailed for its anti-depressant properties, however, it more recently has been shown to have excellent anti-inflammatory properties as well.  At the University of Frieburg in Germany, studies have shown that hypericin (a component of St. John's Wort) actually naturally inhibits NF-kB, which has been shown to activate genes in the body that tend to be pro-inflammatory.  Simply adding St. John Wort as a supplement to your daily routine is an excellent home remedy for inflammation.

Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio have proven that the antioxidant polyphemols that are found in green trea work to naturally cure inflammation in the body by inhibiting COX-2 and TNFa.  A researcher at the University that worked on this particular study credits Genistein as the main component in green tea that inhibits the prostaglandin E2 and COX-2.  It has also been found that quercetin (found in many different fruits and vegetables) inhibits the activity of the inflammation promotic molecules.  These studies have also suggested that grape seed extract, pycnogenol, and other flavonoids can work in the body in similar ways.

If you're trying to treat inflammation using natural remedies, try to increase your intake of monounsaturated fats.  You can find these healthy fats in avocados, cashews, raw almonds and olive oil.  The Mediterranean diet is rich in these healthy fats and has been known to have many anti-inflammatory effects on the body.

If you continually eat a low-fiber diet, then you may be contributing to systemic inflammation.  If you add generous amounts of ground flax seed to your favorite recipes, you'll find that you're adding a healthy amount of fiber to your diet.  This will work as a wonderful home remedy and natural cure for inflammation.  Ground flax seed is high in omega-3 fatty acids and can be added to salads, shakes and smoothies.  Coconut flour can be substituted in many recipes and is actually fifty eight percent fiber.  This is a great way to add more fiber to your diet and reduce inflammation!

Antioxidants are wonderful for you and are praised for their anti-inflammatory properties.  A good way to determine the amount of antioxidants in a particular food is to gauge the color.  The deeper and more rich the color of the food, the more antioxidants it contains.  The best foods that rank high in the color and antioxidant scale are green leafy vegetables (like spinach), pomegranate, mangoes, red grapes and blueberries.  You should also go for squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, red cabbage and brussels sprouts.

Vitamin D

Inflammation can be treated naturally by ingesting lots of calcium and vitamin D.  This is especially true if you also suffer from arthritis, because arthritis is also accompanied by other bone conditions.  To keep your bones healthy and inflammation at bay, be sure that you're eating foods that have lots of vitamin D and calcium like turnip greens, collard greens, spinach, broccoli and mustard greens.  Try wild-caught salmon, sunflower seeds and tuna (be sure it's mercury-minimal).  Moderate exposure to sunlight is a great way to increase vitamin D production in the body.  Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium in the body.  This is a great natural cure for inflammation that will make your bones strong!

Avoid Refined Carbohydrates

Inflammation is made worse by simply and refined carbohydrates like crackers, cakes, cookies, pasta, white bread and sugar.  Instead, consume foods that are complex carbohydrates and have a low glycemic index like winter squash, raw apples and brown sugar.  These are wonderful for natural cures for inflammation.

Exercising and losing weight is not only beneficial for your self-image and helping your clothes to fit better, but it is also a great way to reduce inflammation.  This is a great natural cure for inflammation.  However, many that suffer from arthritis and inflammation do not like to exercise because it can be painful.  If this is the case with you, there are some techniques that you can try to overcome the pain and to benefit from weight loss and exercise.  Try weight training, which will increase your muscle strength.  Having stronger muscles will protect your joints.  Swimming and bike riding are also great low-impact exercises that are wonderful for improve your aerobic capabilities.  These types of endurance exercises help to improve your cardiovascular fitness and control your weight.  Weight control is espeically important for individuals suffering from arthritis and other inflammation related health issues because the more weight placed on joints, the more pain you will be in.  You can also meet with a physical therapist that can work on the range of motion, increase your muscular strenghth, improve your flexibility and increase your cardiovascular fitness.

Cigarettes are terrible for your body and cause health problems in every major system in your body.  They contain lots of chemicals that are known to increase inflammation and can make chronic conditions worse.  If you want a home remedy to naturally cure your inflammation, stop smoking!

Carotenoids as Inflammation Natural Home Remedy

Inflammation can be naturally treated by consuming lots of fresh produce that is high in carotenoids.  These foods are yellow and orange in color.  A study was conducted at the University of Manchester Medical School that actually proved that those that consume a regular diet that is high in dietary carotenoids have a much lower risk of developing inflammatory arthritis than those that did not.  Try to get your carotenoids by consuming lots of cantaloupe, sweet potatoes, squash and carrots. This is one of the best natural home remedies for inflammation.
