Ayurvedic Chicken Pox Home Remedy

A good ayurvedic home remedy for chicken pox is oil of sandalwood.  When the rash first begins to show, put some of this oil on it twice a day.  Keep this up until the scabs fall off.

It is well known that Vitamin E has the ability to heal a large range of skin problems.  Put Vitamin E on the bumps and rashes. Also, Neem oil helps with chicken pox.

Oatmeal Bath

Taking a bath with oatmeal is a long time home remedy for chicken pox.  Grind oatmeal into a fine powder with a small appliance like you would use to grind coffee beans.  Krupp makes such a coffee grinder.  This will heal the chicken pox and also provide some relief for the itching that occurs.  Also you can buy colloidal oatmeal such as Aveeno.

Honey Chicken Pox Natural Home Remedy

Try putting honey on the rashes.  This is an ancient home remedy.

Good herbs for chicken pox are St. John’s wort, goldenseal, ginger and burdock root.  Make a tea from these herbs and drink it three times a day.

Use the homeopathic medicine Rhus Tox for itching and also apply tea tree oil to the bumps.

Salt & Ginger

Put a few tablespoons of sea salt in the bath.  Boil some fresh ginger root in a pot of water for 20 minutes and add this to the bath.  Also add a half cup of vinegar.

A good chicken pox home remedy is baking soda.  Sponge your child with water in which baking soda has been dissolved.  The baking soda should be allowed to dry on the skin.  This will help prevent scratching and further irritation.

For centuries in Italy, bergamot oil has been used to relieve itching and dry up chicken pox blisters.  Bergamot oil is made from a citrus fruit that is related to the common orange and it is regularly used to provide flavoring in tea.  Bergamot is made of 10 to 20 percent alcohol and this will sooth and dry the blisters.  Put 10 to 20 drops of bergamot essential oil (don’t buy synthetic fragrance) in a base oil such as olive oil and mix thoroughly.  Then apply this to the blisters and rashes.

If the itching is really bad, give your child an antihistamine such as Benadryl.  Be advised that it can make your child drowsy.

A good home remedy to sooth the itch and inflammation of chicken pox is aloe vera and shea butter.  You can by such a cream from Ocean Lovers.

Use cotton pajamas.  Cotton is less irritating than other fabrics.  Long sleeves and arms will help prevent access to scratching the bumps.  This is a practical chicken pox home remedy.
