Witch Hazel Natural Remedy for Itching

To treat itchy skin with proven natural remedies, be sure to try applying witch hazel tea, wheat germ oil, vitamin E oil, lemon juice or cod liver oil to the affected area.  These home remedies are great ways to naturally treat itchy skin without applying a lot of chemicals and medicines to an area that is already irritated.

Cornstarch Home Remedy for Itching

One of my family's favorite home remedies for itching is cornstarch.  You can either dust the powder directly onto your skin for immediate relief, or you can mix some of it into your bath water and take a soothing soak.  These are both great ways to take advantage of a wonderful home remedy for itching.

Try this home remedy for itching.  You'll first want to lightly scrub the area with a pumice stone.  Once you've thoroughly cleaned the affected area, wash with soap and warm water.  Dry the irritated area and apply some rubbing alcohol to the site.  Once the alcohol has dried, cover the area with a very thick layer of Vaseline or petroleum jelly.  You'll be pleased to see how quickly you will have relief from the itching.

Yellow Dock & Peppermint

Baths are a great home remedy for soothing itching skin, but you can make your bath even more beneficial with the simple natural remedy of adding yellow dock or peppermint to the bathwater.  This is a great way to relieve itching naturally.

Skin can be irritated for a variety of reasons, including insect bites, stings, heat and a myriad of other skin ailments.  These can all cause the skin to become itchy and irritated.  To calm the irritated skin naturally, simply run yourself a cool bath and add some baking soda.  This is one of my favorite home remedies for itchy skin.

One of the most effective natural remedies for itchy skin is a combination of a weak carbolic acid lotion with baking soda.  This mixture should be applied directly to the part of the skin that it itchy and irritated.

Cold compresses are a great home remedy to relieve itchy skin.  Simply apply them directly to the itchy area and you'll have instant relief from the itching.

Stinging Nettle Oil

I love to use fresh stinging nettle oil on my itchy irritated skin.  I simply apply it to the itchy site and the skin is soothed.  This is one of my favorite home remedies for itchy skin.

Not all natural remedies for itchy skin should be applied topically or added to your bath water.  Tea has lots of health benefits, and one of them is that Nettle tea can calm itchy skin.  Simply boil fresh filtered water  and add to about one teaspoon of Nettle tea leaves.  You'll need to use one teaspoon for each cup of tea prepared.  Steep the leaves about about fifteen minutes.  Drink this several times a day and you'll notice a quick improvement in your itchy and irritated skin.

Itchy skin can be relieved with chickweed made into a poultice.  This is one of my favorite natural remedies for itchy skin.  To make the poultice, simply soak a good amount (I like to use two heaping handfuls) in some fresh filtered water.  Once the chickweed has softened, remove from the water and allow them to cool.  Once they have cooled, apply the poultice directly to the skin.  This will instantly help with any itchiness or rash.

What you put into your body has an amazing effect on your outward appearance.  If you suffer with itchy, irritated skin, then you may want to examine your diet.  You may find that when you eat some certain foods, your skin will become more irritated.  If this happens, try to avoid these foods.

Itchiness can be controlled with a great diet.  Be sure to eat lots of foods that have high amounts of zinc, Vitamin E, beta-carotene and Vitamin C.  Fruits and vegetables are rich in these nutrients and help to reduce itching.

If your skin is itchy and irritated, then try not to scratch the area.  This will only make you more uncomfortable and will make the irritation worse.  Instead, keep your fingernails trimmed short so that you don't have to worry about irritating the itchy skin even more.

You may notice your skin itching more at night.  Try to wear loose and comfortable clothes to bed.  During the day, try to avoid any heavy or itchy fabrics (like wool) over the affected area.

Epsom Salts Home Remedy for Itching Skin

One of my favorite home remedies for itchy skin is to simply take a bath with lukewarm water and epsom salts.  This really helps soothe itchy and irritated skin.

After a bath, one of the best things to do for itchy skin is to apply lotion to the skin.  Be sure to avoid lotion that has a lot of perfumes and dyes added, as this can irritate the skin even more.

When your skin is irritated and itchy, try to avoid humid and hot situations.

Itchy skin will be made worse with moisture.  Keep the skin dry and very clean to avoid irritating the itchy areas even more.  This is a wonderful home remedy for irritated and itchy skin.

Olive Oil as Natural Home Remedy for Itching

If your itchy skin is caused by eczema, try this great home remedy.  I love to use olive oil as lotion when I'm suffering from itchy eczema rashes.  Not only is it great for your skin, but it also helps to soothe the irritation.
