Ulcer Home Remedies & Natural Treatments

Western medicine promotes the idea that duodenal ulcers and stomach ulcers are caused by H. Pylori bacteria.  Studies indicate that this bacteria is present where ulcers occur.  What is unusual about this bacteria is that it is not destroyed by stomach acid.  Chinese medicine teaches that the bacteria flourish because of other conditions which allow the H. Pylori to populate.  Such conditions can include stomach yin deficiency (moistening fluids) and the presence of one of two conditions that Chinese medicine calls stomach fire or stomach cold.  These two conditions are caused by poor eating habits and/or stress of long duration.  The most commonly prescribed herbal mixtures for this are Wei Te Ling or White Tiger Powder.  You can purchase these from Dr. Shen or other Chinese apothecaries.  For best results go see a doctor trained in Chinese herbology, preferably one from China.

For ulcers I took a combination of sage, white oak bark, wild yam, and yucca bayberry, bistort, burdock, goldenseal, hops, hyssop, myrrh, pennyroyal, pokeweed and  red raspberry, to help heal. This could be taken in a tea form or capsules until symptoms disappear. Always see a physician if symptoms worsen.

I was experiencing awful pain for over a year and I was finally diagnosed with a peptic ulcer. I was uninsured so I tried to find as many natural or home remedies to try as I could. The New England Journal of Medicine had an excellent article about treating peptic ulcers so I decided to try their advice. They recommended Mastic Gum.  Mastic Gum has been used for centuries by traditional healers for stomach distress. It comes in form of capsules and is available in vegetarian also.

Drinking cabbage juice is a wonderful way to heal stomach ulcers and strengthen the intestinal lining.

As a home remedy to help heal ulcers I  used a tablespoon blackstrap molasses every morning for a couple weeks with great results. I had to eat a piece of toast and or fruit with it.
