Ginger

Ginger is one of the most effective anti-nausea agents known to man. It can be used for every form of nausea including motion sickness, stomach flu and pregnancy. It has even been demonstrated to be very helpful in reducing the most severe form of pregnancy nausea,  hyperemesis gravidum, which usually demands hospitalization. In a double-blind study, ginger root produced a very marked reduction in both the number of attacks and the severity of nausea and vomiting in 19 of 27 women who were in the early stages of their pregnancy (less than 20 weeks). Ginger is extremely safe and only requires a small amount to be effective. Anti-vomiting drugs have been shown to cause severe birth defects. A study of six randomized controlled, double-blind clinical trials with 675 persons participating, published in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology, April 2005 issue, confirmed that ginger is effective in relieving the intensity and severity of vomiting and nausea during pregnancy. The review also stated that there are no significant side effects when using ginger.  You can buy capsules of ginger root at the grocery store or health food store.  Take two or three capsules.  Also, try ginger tea and Reed’s Ginger Ale. According to Ayurvedic medicine, ginger increases the digestive fire and inhibits the activity in the stomach that causes nausea.

Acupressure

With palm up, go to the point where the wrist crease meets the thumb. Then press slightly and pull your finger across the crease and over the first big tendon.  You should now be near the middle of the palm on the wrist crease.  Now slide your finger down toward the elbow in between the two tendons the distance of two finger widths.  Put pressure on this point on both wrists for a few minutes.  You can also purchase wrist bands with knobs that press into these points and these are very effective.  Do a search online for nausea wrist bands. This is an excellent natural home remedy for nausea.
