Heat Stroke Home Remedies, Natural Cures & Treatments

Cold Water Bath

Heat stroke is a serious condition and needs to be addressed immediately. My home remedy for heat stroke has been to take a cold water bath for 5 to 10 minutes. It is important to have a family member or someone to assist you in and out of the shower in case you experience light-headedness or complications.

Ice Pack Heat Stroke Home Remedy

My family has always taught me that heat stroke is something to treat quickly and with ice. They have told me that one of the quickest ways to cool your body down is to make up small bags of ice using zip lock bags or whatever is handy and then place them at the back of your neck, in your groin area and on your chest and back. Leave the ice there at least ten minutes if not a bit longer to assure you cool down adequately.

If I feel I am possibly getting heat stroke my home remedy is to always drink water right away. Being properly hydrated is essential for regulating our internal body temperature. If you are even a slight bit dehydrated, and begin to experience heat stroke the consequences can be very serious. Make sure you drink plenty of water in hot weather conditions or when exercising.

Onions are known to be a wonderful home remedy for heat stroke. There are a number of ways to prepare the onion or eat the onion to help prevent or treat heat stroke. One way to use the onion is to take the onion juice and apply the juice behind your ears and on your chest. This helps to keep your body temperature regulated and assists in treating heat stroke. You can also eat an onion a day in salads or other foods.

Plum Juice

My friend gave me this home remedy for heat stroke. Her parents taught her to drink plum juice to help her if she gets over heated. Fresh plum juice is best but even bottled plum juice will work. When you live in a hot climate you have to be aware and prepared to deal with the heat!

Tamarind works wonders to relieve heat stroke symptoms. This home remedy for heat stroke is simple and quick. Make sure you have some tamarind in stock; and if you experience heat stroke take the tamarind and mash it in water, then take the pulp of the tamarind and place it on the back of your hands and top of your feet. This home remedy for heat stroke will bring your body temperature down swiftly.

Coconut Milk and Black Peppercorns

This is a simple and effective home remedy for heat stroke symptoms. First take some coconut milk and then get some black peppercorns. Grind them into the milk to make a thick paste. Apply the paste all over the areas on your body that are the hottest. Avoid eyes and sensitive parts. This paste will cool your body down gently and quickly.

Eating Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

Keeping our bodies well fortified and hydrated is the most natural home remedy for heat stroke. If we know we are going to be spending time in a warm or hot climate we can prepare our bodies through eating lost of fresh fruits and vegetables. We should also drink a lot of water to help our body stay hydrated.

Reducing Sodium Intake

My uncle had a history of getting heat strokes. Our family researched various home remedies for heat stroke until we finally found what worked best for him. He was eating a diet high in salt and thus his chances for getting heat stroke were always high. Once he reduced his sodium intake he stopped getting heat stroke so often. Excessive sodium impacts the functioning of our sweat production and leaves us quite vulnerable to heat stroke if we live in a hot climate. Simply reduce your salt intake as a natural home remedy for heat stroke.

Avoiding Alcohol Heat Stroke Home Remedy

If you are vulnerable to heat stroke my suggestion is to abstain from consuming any alcoholic beverage. Drinking alcohol increases the heat in your body making you more susceptible to heat stroke. Alcohol is also very dehydrating which also makes your body much more prone to heat stroke. Simply avoid alcohol as a home remedy for preventing heat stroke.

Cool Shower and Loose Clothes

Take off your clothes get into a cool shower for a heat stroke home remedy treatment! After you take your cool shower lightly dry off and only dress in loose light clothing preferably cotton based material.

I did not realize I had heat stroke and I could have really hurt myself by not treating it properly. I would like to share some of the symptoms I experienced when I had heat stroke to help others be more aware. My stomach was nauseated and I had a bad headache, I was also somewhat dizzy and really tired. I have researched heat stroke and learned that some people actually have a fever as well. It is super important to drink water or an electrolyte beverage when you have heat stroke because you are probably dehydrated. I took a cool shower and put an ice pack on my forehead and stomach. Eventually I started to feel better.  This is one of the best home remedies for heat stroke.
